What a great weekend for the 2010 Lake Worth Street Painting Festival. We had beautiful weather with a warm ocean breeze, good food and fantastic live music. Thank you to all the other sponsors especially Maryanne and Bruce Webber from Webber Galleries and White Apron Catering for the delicious food at the VIP Tent.
"Lake Worth is now filled from sunrise to the wee hours with venues that would have appealed to Arthur Godfrey, Xavier Cugat, Lady Gaga or all three. There’s an old-school French restaurant, a Jewish deli, Havana-inspired cafés, surfer bars, gay clubs and more than one Irish pub.
Every generation of cool people is served: There’s a kava bar for hipsters, Birkenstock distributor for hippies and medical-supply stores for those with new hips. Coolness, of course, has little to do with age — as noted in a visit to The Cottage, a bar-and-outdoors restaurant that attracts a diverse clientele. At one table, a group of Medicare beneficiaries were drinking, laughing and carrying on. At another, a trio of pretty young women sat somberly, as they checked their makeup.

Today is Norman Rockwell's Birthday. Yesterday I went to the wonderful exhibit "American Chronicles: The Art of Norman Rockwell" at the Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale. I loved seeing 20th Century American history through the stories told in Rockwell's paintings and prints. Rockwell showed some of the best of everyday American life (a Day in the Life of a Little Girl) as well as some of our not so wonderful moments (Problem we all Live With). In today's day of the Internet and blogs, it was wonderful to see Rockwell's beautiful way of telling a story without words. Norman Rockwell is a wonderful artist and we are proud to have one of our rooms named after him. See our Norman Rockwell Room.

Today we had a wonderful day watching some of the world's premier equestrian competitors at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center in the lovely Village of Wellington in Palm Beach County, FL, just 12 miles west from the Sabal Palm House Bed and Breakfast.
It was amazing to watch the wonderful partnership of horse and rider in the thrills of jumping on a January afternoon while basking in South Florida sunshine. The Showgrounds and The Stadium, cover more than 150 acres offering equestrian competition and entertainment that cannot be found anywhere in the world. There are galleries, wine and coffee bars, upscale and casual eateries and comfortable outdoor seating where you can watch all the beautiful four-legged and two-legged creatures go by.

The Palm Beaches Marathon was today. What an exciting event and this was the first year the runners came through the City of Lake Worth at mile 6. Runners were able to experience our quaint neighborhoods, Municipal Golf Course, Bryant Park, and our three established historic neighborhoods of College Park, Eden Place and Parrot Cove. The course took advantage of the area’s magnificent, tree-line historic neighborhoods, while incorporating over 65% of scenic waterfront vistas, and the Sabal Palm House B&B at mile 7.

Left is a wonderful display of fresh fruits and vegetables from right here in South Florida. We bought some local honey and locally prepared pickles. YUMMY . Below is just another day in paradise surrounded by sunshine and fresh flowers in late November.
This weekend we enjoyed some of the many attractions here in Palm Beach County. Friday night we went to City Place and heard a great band that played everything from Chicago, Earth Wind and Fire, and Miami Sound Machine. On Sunday we enjoyed downtown Lake Worth with the Lake Worth Art League Outdoor show.

Today was an absolutely beautiful Fall day in South Florida--85 degrees and sunny. We took a lovely drive up to the Riveria Beach Marina and said hello to Mark at Blue Water Powerboat Rentals. They provide brand new boats and jetskis that our guests can rent to go out on the calm intracoastal waters or the beautiful blue gulfstream waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
While up north, we went across the Blue Heron Bridge to Singer Island and had a drink at the Sailfish Marina Restaurant overlooking the Intracoastal and Peanut Island. What a great day!
Riveria Beach Marina and Blue Water Powerboat Rentals Jetski:
Today we took a 40 minute drive down to Ft. Lauderdale to visit the lovely Bonnet House Museum and Gardens. The Bonnet House was built by Frederic Clay Bartlett in 1920 and is a wonderful example of Florida in the early part of the 20th century. The Bartletts were artists, and our visit gave us many ideas for the artistically-inspired Sabal Palm House B&B's gardens and rooms.
As owners of a bed and breakfast, we share our guests love of travel and exploration of new places. We recently returned from a wonderful trip to Paris where we found some of the original paintings we have at our inn. We explored the city, found great local restaurants and traveled to Monet's home just outside of Paris where we found a bed and breakfast in the French countryside. We had to stop in and meet the owners to share stories. It is amazing how similar we all are. As much as we enjoy traveling, we love coming home to Palm Beach. We realize how lucky we are to live in a place that is warm and sunny all year, has such beautiful beaches, world-class golf courses, fabulous museums and gardens and wonderful restaurants and shops. We hope to share with you some of the great things happening here in Palm Beach and to post news about the Sabal Palm House, ourselves, our guests and all the fun things happening here in South Florida. --Colleen and John Rinaldi, Owners/Innkeepers
